Most would reference the retro 60s sound when talking about The Lords of Altamont, but if we are honest, name one band who sounded like this in the 60s. It’s taken everything from the Sonics and the Seeds through the MC5, the Stooges and the whole US/UK punk era to get us to this. With defecting members of garage heroes The Fuzztones, psychobilly legends The Cramps and surf revival combo The Bomboras on board, The Lords Of Altamont were pretty much condemned to play rock’n’roll. Fugitives from the Stones’ worst nightmare, this tattooed wild bunch have blended the most infernal collection of rock’n’roll clichés heard for ages to produce, in a howling storm of guitars and blazing Farfisa organ, the ultimate metal alloy, the perfect combination of The Stooges’ apocalyptic punk, The Sonics’ garage energy and Steppenwolf’s hard-rock heritage.
