BUDDY HOLLY
: Buddy Holly
Four months after the release of The Chirping Crickets, Brunswick Records released the second Buddy album, Buddy Holly.
Recorded between April and 1957 and January 1958, Buddy wrote or co-wrote half the twelve songs on the album, including the song with which he is perhaps indelibly linked, Peggy Sue.
Although the album has become rightly regarded as an important milestone in Buddys career, its reception at the time of release was considerably more lukewarm - the album failed to chart, despite the fact that Peggy Sue was a top three hit in the US.
The single was also a Top Ten hit in the UK and was followed by Listen To Me (Top 20) and Rave On (another Top Five hit).
